If you wear it while riding a motorcycle or quad, then there is a pretty good chance that we will fix it. There really is very little in the way of motorcycle apparel that we don’t fix so if in doubt please give us a call or better still bring it in and let us have a look at it.
We do a wide range of repairs to items such as saddlebags, gloves, helmet liners etc. We clean and renovate old leather jackets. We stitch on patches and badges. Replace Velcro or move straps etc. We can sometimes repair leaks to the waterproof membrane in Dririder style jackets, depending on the extent of the damage.
We do some modifications to clothing such as shortening sleeves of jackets, legs of pants etc, but to quote on this type of work we must see the item as there are so many different ways a jacket can be put together it is impossible to quote over the phone. There are also limits to what we can do, as we are not tailors and we do not have the equipment needed to make from scratch. It is also much harder to take something apart and modify it that it would be to do it before the item is assembled so don’t be surprised if the cost of your requested modification is close in price to the cost of the item, as we are having to undo the manufacturers work first then change the item and then re-assemble it, often in an order it was not designed to be assembled in.
If you are bringing in your race suit for repair and you wish to save yourself some money, it will help if you remove all removable armour, knee sliders and the lining if it zips out as this saves us time and so saves you money.
If you bring in your moto x boot and they are covered in mud I will charge you extra for cleaning them off before I can work on them. If they contain a bucket of sand which is going to get into my machinery and stuff it up…guess what I’m not gonna be happy and hey your gonna pay so please empty the sand and give them a cursory clean off before you bring them to me. I don’t need to be able to see myself in them, but I also don’t want to be covered in mud in the first 2 minutes.
If you are going to clean them your self please don’t use a jet wash and then bring them in soaking wet as I cannot glue new soles to wet boots, they just don’t stick and so they will have to be stripped and dried off first. This takes time so I hope you are not in a big hurry to get them back.
When you wash your moto X pants and they have fully dried, it is a good idea to rub in some leather conditioner on the leather panels in the legs. Where possible rub this on both the outside and inside of the panel to keep it soft and extend its life. A good conditioner for this purpose is Waproo Zorbel, which we stock. It is important to use a liquid or cream conditioner, which will easily penetrate the leather and not just sit on the surface. Placing the item in the sun for around 15 minutes before applying the conditioner will help to open the surface of the leather.
